Do I need an Alberta Online visitor account to place a Classified ad?

Yes, but it’s simple to create your visitor account.

 

How do I create my Alberta Online Classified ad Visitor Account?

It’s easy! 

If you want to have a visitor account, simply click on “Create an Account” on the home page.

Enter your e-mail & choose a password and you are done. 

A confirmation email will be sent to you. Click on the link and it will activate your account.

 

What does my Alberta Online Visitor Account do for me?

It allows you to place FREE classified ads, receive notifications & save your favourite classifieds for easy reference.

 

Do I need an Alberta Online Visitor Account if I already have an Upgraded Business Account?

No. You have all you need to enjoy all the benefits of Alberta Online.

 

What is the listing fee for my Alberta Online Classified ad?

Alberta Online Classifieds are FREE.  

 

What is the cost of making my ad one of the Featured Five?

The cost is $5.00 per classified ad.

 

How do I pay for my Alberta Online Featured ad?

Payment is easy. 

Use the secure link to go to Pay Pal and follow the prompts 

You can also use your own credit card through Pay Pal

 

How secure is payment?

Very secure.

It is through Pay Pal. The most trusted name in online payments.

 

How do I create my Alberta Online Classified ad?

Go to your “Dashboard”.

Scroll down to “Your classified ads”.

Choose “Add +”.  

This will take you to “Place a Classified Ad”.  

Fill in the fields, add your text to describe your ad, choose your images (6 are allowed), choose whether or not to “make this a featured ad” (for a fee) and submit.

(Note: for security reasons there is a 30 minute time limit and then your session will time out. Remember to save before this happens)

If you chose the Featured Ad option follow the prompt to pay.

 

How do I upload or edit my photos and ad listing?

***There is a 2MB limit per image upload.  Most images will be below this limit.

Go to “My Account” and scroll down to “Classifieds”.

Click on the ad you wish to edit. 

Choose “Edit your ad”.  

For adding images click on button that says “Add image”.  

A box titled “CKFinder 3” will appear.  

*If this error comes up go into your browser's privacy settings and choose "Allow from websites I visit"

 

Choose “Upload” to choose where you get your image from.  

Once you have uploaded the image, click on the image. 

Then click on either “choose”, “choose resized” or “edit” to get the desired image size, cropping or filter.

Once you have chosen your image it will take you back to “Edit my ad”.  Edit your text in the box provided.  

Scroll to bottom of page and save changes.

Go “Dashboard” and Scroll down to “Classifieds” to see how it looks.

 

Can I edit/change my ad once it has been uploaded?

Yes, you can change content, pictures, information, price and classification.

The only thing you can’t change once you have completed the ad is the start date.

Note: Make any changes to the category prior to choosing to make it featured. Otherwise you will lose the featured ad for the category you no longer are a part of.

 

What happens if I sell my item before the ad expires?

You can deactivate your ad or you can use the remainder of the ad time to sell something else! 

Change the pictures, text, classification, etc. to create a whole new classified.

Note: Make any changes to the category prior to choosing to make it featured. Otherwise you will lose the featured ad for the category you no longer are a part of.

 

Can I renew my ad after it expires?

Yes, you can renew your ad unlimited times.  Your expired ad will stay in your dashboard where you can renew, edit or delete it.

 

How do I change the classification my ad is placed in?

Go to “Edit My Ad” and choose a new classification and save your changes.

Note: Make any changes to the category prior to choosing to make it featured. Otherwise you will lose the featured ad for the category you no longer are a part of.

 

How do I view a full members Alberta Online classified ad?

Go to the “Classifieds” page and choose a classified ad from one of the categories.

Click on the classified ad and the full classified ad will be displayed.

 

How do I register for notifications?

After you have created a visitor profile or upgraded membership, choose the notifications that you wish to receive. 

Go to your “Dashboard” and under “Settings” chose the “yes” option and chose your key words or phrases.

You can change your mind at any time and be removed from any/all of the notification lists.

 

What is the cost for notifications?

Nothing! All notifications are free!

 

Can I cancel the notification option?

Yes, at any time!

 

How do I search the site?

 

Basic Search:

Located at the top header of Directory, Classifieds and Deal Checker is the “Basic search” with key word and category search fields.  

The basic search pulls classifieds and member listings from your geographical location. 

(To search outside of your location use Advanced Search or change your location on the top header)

For Deal Checker the basic search pulls results based on category and city.

 

Advanced Search: 

Advanced search is located on the upper right hand side of the site header.  

Choosing Advanced Search allows you to do a more detailed search of Classifieds and Member Directory listings.  

Fill in one or more input fields to be as detailed on your search as you want to.  It also allows you to search areas outside your geographical area by choosing the city you wish to search.

Leaving the location blank will expand your search to include the entire site.

 

What do I do if I forget my password?

Click on the “forgot password” and a password reset will be sent to you by email.

Use the new password to reset with your chosen one.

 

How do I get my ad as one of the “Featured Five”?

Go to “Edit my Ad”. Choose “Make my ad a featured five”.

Note: Make any changes to the category prior to choosing to make it featured. Otherwise you will lose the featured ad for the category you no longer are a part of.

 

How do I manage my account?

Go to My Account and choose one of the seven options.
