What is Safety FX - Farm and Ranch?

Safety FX-Farm and Ranch is a province-wide safety initiative that will enable all farms and ranches to have standardized agricultural safety knowledge and training. Farms and ranches will also have a standardized safety program that can be altered to suit the individual needs of each operation without the need to create a program.

Safety FX – Farm and Ranch will save each farm and ranch operation hundreds of hours (and thousands of dollars) by not having to create the program, as well as saving time, money and incident costs by way of standardized safety knowledge and training reducing the risk of safety incidents happening.

Safety FX – Farm and Ranch will be delivered primarily on-line with cell phone access capabilities (print version will also be available). The program will satisfy the proposed Bill 6 legislation, the OH&S Act, WCB as well as Federal Bill C45.

Objectives

To engage agricultural stakeholders in the creation and implementation of a standardized, province – wide safety initiative that would ensure that a consistent level of knowledge and training is adopted and utilized by the entire industry.

Outcomes

Within 5 years of program launch, engaging 75% of Alberta farms and ranches to adopt Safety FX – Farm and Ranch for their operation, thereby realizing a 50% reduction in agricultural related deaths and a 70% reduction in serious injuries.
