About Us



CASASC is a voluntary non-profit organization serving the Central Alberta region under the direction of a community-based Board of Directors.



 The Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC) is committed to ending the culture of sexual violence and helping to build safer communities for all Central Albertans through promoting awareness and healing, education, empowerment and renewal.



 

24-Hour Sexual Assault Text, Webchat and Phone Crisis Line



Anonymous, confidential support, information and referral will be provided to victims of sexual assault and their families. The issues of recent sexual assault, historic sexual assault, sexual harassment, stalking/criminal harassment and child sexual abuse will be handled by specifically trained volunteers on this line.

Sexual Assault Services:  Crisis, Short-term & Long-Term Counselling



Support services are available to victims of sexual assault and their families, regardless of age or gender.  Individual sessions are designed to support personal coping skills and accelerate recovery in people who are experiencing the after-effects of a trauma. Regardless of the length of time since the assault, all victims can benefit from appropriate supportive intervention.



 

Sexual Assault Services:  Empowerment and Guidance



Sexual Assault Response Team (SART): Volunteers are on call 24 hours a day to provide accompaniment and support for victims of sexual assault. SART offers support to the victims and their loved ones who have been brought to the Red Deer Regional Hospital in an emergency situation.



Police assistance: CASASC staff facilitate and provide accompaniment to police for those victims wishing to make a report.  There is no statute of limitations on sexual assault; that is, a police report can be made regardless of the length of time since the assault occurred.



Court support: For those victims involved in the court process, staff assist with information, preparation and accompaniment throughout the court proceedings.



Confidential services to victims of sexual assault are offered at no fee.
